Possible Group Discussion Questions:

  1.  Rob said that from a young age he felt like he had to be the best at everything.  Do you suffer from the need to appear perfect?  If so, can you see howthat Jesus is calling you to be faithful rather than perfect?
  2. Rob talked about trying to "bargain his way into heaven" with good deeds that he felt balanced out his bad behaviors.  But Jesus says we are saved because of our faith, not because of our deeds.  How does it feel to know you don't have to earn your way into God's love?
  3. God led Rob to traditional recovery (AA) as well as church and Christian recovery.  God is generous with his gifts of many types of recovery programs for healing.  Are you using all the recovery programs he has offered you?  
  4. Sobriety brought Rob to nursing and to becoming a chaplain.  Jesus has a special plan for you in recovery, too.  How does that make you feel?
