Asking for a Friend

Part 6

Is there life after death?

Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores. “Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried, and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. “The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’ “But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’ “Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father’s home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’ “But Abraham said, ‘Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.’ “The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’ “But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Luke 16:19-31 (NLT)

So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.

Romans 14:10-13 (NLT)

Yes, God offers me eternal life with Him now and forever.

Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Patti Nemazie came to know Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior through the ministries of Grace Church. Receiving a free paperback Bible as a first time visitor, Patti began reading it and was captured and transformed by the grace of God from a life of no purpose or passion into a fully devoted disciple of Christ to the glory of God.

In 2004, on fire and full of passion, God called Patti into ministry after Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Katrina devastated Southwest Florida. She began doing disaster relief in our community. This experience stirred in Patti her spiritual gifts of evangelism and faith.

In 2007, she was hired on staff as the Director of Missions at the Cape Coral campus of Grace Church. Her job title was changed to Director of Reach and Send Ministries in 2009.  Through team based ministry she has led close to 75 short term mission teams to 5 continents watching God use these experiences to transform the lives of the team members and the Grace Church missionaries served. Locally, she led teams of amazing volunteers that led over 20 ministries and sent out more than 250 people monthly to serve outside the walls of the church. In January of 2016 Patti and family moved to Sarasota Florida to plant the 5th campus of Grace Church.

In addition Patti has served as a Chaplain with the Billy Graham’s Rapid Response Team, Certified Temperament Therapist, Crisis counselor and a Supreme Court of Florida County Mediator with a background in nursing.

Originally from Long Island, New York and living in Southwest Florida for the past 22 years, she is married to her high school sweetheart Steve, has two adult children Robbie and Brianna, an amazing daughter in law Kayla  and 7 precious grandchildren.
