Distraction is one of the greatest threats to spiritual health in the modern world. We all feel it - we're bombarded by noise like never before. Jesus has an invitation for us: Step away from it all to be alone with him, for the sake of our souls and the sake of others.

The Solitude Practice is a four-week course that gently guides us through the practice of solitude, which was one of the practices of Jesus. In solitude, we retreat from the distraction and hustle of our daily routines and make time to rest, to be, and to listen to God.

The four weeks will cover these four topics: The Quiet Place, Encounter with our Self, Encounter with our Enemy, and Encounter with our God. Solitude is a practice that anyone can engage with, in whatever life stage or situation where you find yourself. You will be given guidance on how you can tailor this practice to your own life and you'll have the opportunity to try it out in supportive community.

Each week we will gather for dinner, learning, and conversation in small groups, developing relationships as we learn and grow together. Free dinner and childcare will be offered throughout the course.

(This course was created by the same organization that developed the Sabbath, Prayer, and Fasting Courses that have been offered in the past couple of years at Grace. The format will be the same as those courses, with video teaching by pastor and author John Mark Comer, a printed course guide, and a reflective and restful approach to our spiritual lives.
